Subclasses of skilled migration visa

There are subclasses of skilled migration visa:

  • The Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) is a permanent resident visa for skilled workers who want to work and live in Australia. The 189 visa allows the holder to stay indefinitely in Australia, travel to and from the country, work, bring family to work or study and enrol in Medicare.
  • The Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) is designed to enable invited skilled applicants, whether in or outside Australia, to apply for a permanent residence visa after being nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency.. The visa allows the holder to stay indefinitely in Australia, travel to and from the country, work, bring family to work or study and enrol in Medicare.
  • The Skilled Regional (provisional) Visa (subclass 491) is designed to enable invited skilled applicants, whether in or outside Australia, to apply for a provisional visa after being nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency or sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated area. The visa allows the holder to live, work and study in a specified regional area of Australia, to bring family and to travel to and from Australia. The visa is granted for 5 years and is the principal visa pathway to the permanent Skilled- Regional (subclass 191) Visa.

ELIGIBILITY FOR AUSTRALIA SKILLED MIGRATION PROGRAM

  • You should have experience in a nominated occupation on Australia’s Skilled Occupations List
  • You need to get a skill assessment report by a designated authority for that occupation
  • Your age must be below 50 years of age
  • You should have the highest level of education
  • Your English language skills should be fluent
  • Make sure whether your occupation is on the Skilled Occupations List
  • Your work experience should meet the requirement
  • You should have sound Health and character assessment
